No one likes to celebrate their birthday in the hospital, much less when you are a patient suffering the pains of cancer. But when the nurses and hospital staff bring you a cake and birthday presents, it has a way of changing everything. Sorrowful thoughts are replaced with tears of joy and the physical pains replaced, even if only for the moment, with jubilation as faces light up and celebrate the day, the year, and the hope of many more to come.
